Trans lives matter. Representation matters. In the stories of old, Aphrodite hasalways stood as a symbol of love, beauty, and desire - goddess of passion, bornfrom the sea’s foam. But history is more fluid than we often realise, and someinterpretations suggest that Aphrodite herself may have been trans or genderdiverse. The ancient world, far from the rigid binaries we impose today, was aplace where identities were fluid, complex, and celebrated in their diversity. This piece is my way of honouring that rich, inclusive history while celebrating thebeauty and power of the trans community today. Aphrodite reclaims her space, embodying the grace, strength, and resilience that have always defined the transexperience. She is a reminder that love, in all its forms, transcends theboundaries of gender - just as it transcends time, space, and convention. The ancient world understood something we are still learning today: that genderis not a rigid binary but a spectrum, a flowing, evolving expression of self.Aphrodite is not bound by the constraints of one identity. She is all-encompassing- representing the fluidity, diversity, and endless beauty that comes withembracing who we truly are.Aphrodite is love. Aphrodite is beauty. And in this painting, she is also a symbolof the trans experience - powerful, proud, and radiant in her truth. This is a call toremember that representation matters. That our stories, our identities, and ourhistories are intertwined, flowing through time like water, shaping and reshapingthe world as we know it.
